You Are My Friends, If You Do What I Command (5/5)

Joshua Gorenflo

We’ve been talking a lot about love recently. It makes sense. Love is the essence of God’s character. Love is the heart of the Good News of Jesus. And love is something we will never stop growing in. Especially love as Jesus has exemplified it.

So we continue to abide in the Scriptures that point us toward love, that reveal God’s desire for the whole world to know Him, that extol the marvelous things God has done and continues to do. For we are convinced that if we gaze at the beautiful love of God shown in the person of Jesus, then we cannot but be transformed by love’s gaze staring back at us.

My prayer for us: Loving God, we give You praise for Your boundless and transforming love for us. Give us the courage to abide in Your love, especially when so many other voices tempt us toward some cheapened version of love’s expression. Today, we proclaim that You are the definition of love. Nothing else. No one else. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
