A Threshold Moment (12/31)

What a joy this time of year is, where we celebrate the coming of our Savior into the world! May the love you share with your families be simply a taste of God's everlasting love for you, exemplified in the birth of Jesus.

But the angels don't herald forever. And the shepherds eventually go back to their fields. What comes next, now that Jesus has come and the gifts have been given and we've had our fill of Christmas music?

That's where our texts this week speak into:

Luke 2:22–40

Galatians 3:23–25; 4:4–7

Psalm 147:1–12

Isaiah 61:10–62:3

My prayer for us: Gracious God, we thank You for being born, not only into our world, but into our hearts and lives. May we know You more fully this week as we continue to point to You, our light. And as the season turns toward the new year, may we live into the newness You have waiting for us. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
