May the God who defeated all the forces of darkness on the cross be your guard and refuge this week as you bear His light to the world around you. And may the power of God's authority bring His life to every corner of yours.
Our texts this week invite us to recognize the greatness of God, the beauty of His good news, and the hope it provides for all people. Our Gospel reading tells a story about Simon's ill mother-in-law, whom Jesus "raises up," evoking imagery of when Jesus himself will be "raised up" in the Resurrection. It's as if Mark wants to clue us in on the resurrection life that Jesus offers us even still.
Isaiah 40:21-31
1 Corinthians 9:16-23
Mark 1:29-39
Psalm 147:1-12
My prayer for us: Almighty God, see us and heal us this week, that we might rise to new life in You with hearts eager to express our thanksgiving through service. And keep us close to You, the Source of our lives, so that our service may be genuine and abundant because of Your Spirit. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
