For God's Eyes Only (2/18)

Joshua Gorenflo

May the transfigured Jesus, who radiates with the glory of heaven yet whose feet are planted firmly on earth, hold you together this week as you walk through daily struggles with God's promise of future glory ringing in your ears.

We will be turning our attention to Jesus' teachings about how exactly we are meant to live spiritually grounded within our present world. How do we hold on to the hope of God's promises when life can be so challenging? As we step into the season of Lent, we are invited to lean into our dependance upon God, our need for repentance, and the renunciation of our own wills so we might be better attuned to God's will.

As such, here are our texts for this week. They are rich with God's desire to be close to us and with a word about how we can draw close to Him.

Joel 2:1-2,12-17

2 Corinthians 5:20-6:10

Psalm 103:8-14

Matthew 6:1-6,16-21

My prayer for us: Almighty and compassionate God, convict us of our need for You and draw us close to You in Jesus and in the practices of our faith. Create in us clean hearts and give us a new Spirit: Your Spirit. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
