As we continue to walk in newness of life, we hear along the way the truth of who we are because of who God is and what He's done in Jesus. He's called us friends. He's given us His Spirit to intercede on our behalf. And this week, we hear Him call us His children--and more!--heirs. Joint heirs with Christ in His kingdom come.
This means that, like Jesus, who called out to God, "Abba! Father!" in such intimate closeness, we, too, can use those same words, experience that same closeness. Only, we must not sell God nor His gift short by living under the oppression of guilt or shame that would place the focus back on ourselves and take it away from God's glory. No matter what we feel or what we do, if we continue to confess Jesus Christ as our Lord, then nothing can stand between us and our Heavenly Father.

My prayer for us: Abba, Father, thank You for giving us Your Spirit. A Spirit, not of fear or slavery, but of adoption as Your children, so that we may be Yours completely. And none of this is of our doing, but all glory is for You. In fact, we couldn't have done it. It had to be You. So thank You. Help us to receive this greatest of all gifts. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
