I hope that you've been able to meet Jesus in all the "Galilees" of your week--those places of darkness, hurt, and brokenness where he promises to meet us and bring new life into.
So often we talk about the death and resurrection of Jesus in terms of the individual (i.e. receiving Jesus as our "personal Lord and Savior"), but the Bible seems more interested in talking about the power of the Risen Jesus for the formation of a particular kind of community. In fact, that community will come to be known as the "Body of Christ" in the world, at least until the time when Jesus returns.
So as we look at these texts this week, as we witness the Spirit moving from the empty tomb into the surrounding world, let's ask ourselves: what kind of community gets formed along the way?
Acts 4:32-35
1 John 1:1-2:2
John 20:19-31
Psalm 133
My prayer for us: Risen Jesus, whose Spirit gathers together those who confess your Lordship and live in love, I ask that you form us into the community of your desire and dreams: people of generosity, people who care for the needs of others, people of one heart and soul. All for your glory. Amen.
